November 5 – Ryder Cup
Ryder Cup Rules
This tournament is 27 holes. It is both a gross and net tournament. Please watch scorecard for where your team gets strokes on each hole. The first 9 will be scramble format. You can obviously lift clean and place your ball once you select the one to use. Make sure it is placed within a foot the selected ball, no closer to the hole, and in the same condition, i.e. fairway, rough, bunker, etc. on the green it needs to be placed where the original ball was located.
The second 9 will be modified alternate shot. The last 9 is best ball. For the modified alternate shot, each player will hit their tee shots. For par 3’s, once tee shot is hit, you select the preferred tee shot and alternate shots from that point. On par 4’s, both tee off, then you hit partners tee shot, then select preferred shot and alternate from that point. On par 5’s, both tee off, then hit partner’s ball, and then alternate once more. Then select preferred shot and alternate from that point. You must continue to use the same ball chosen until it is holed out.
The last nine is a simple best ball of the two, gross and net.
As for other rules; there are still areas around the newly built cart paths that have not fully grown in or have rocks or gravel. Decide between teams if the ball can be dropped to avoid damaging the course, the clubs or yourself.
The handicaps have been blended in accordance with the recommendations of USGA.
And lastly, keep up with the group in front of you. Play it down on the last two nine’s. Play ready golf, do not play honors. Keep an eye on the other players in the foursome balls too. Speeds play so you are not looking for a lot of balls. On the last 9, if you are out of the hole pick up. It will be a long day and we want to finish before dark.
